Class Philosophies

Unit 3

Class Philosophies

9 min read

The changing nature of social cycles means that one class is always dominant just as a wave has a peak that is not flat.

A society with a dominant worker class will likely push for worker interests, just as one dominated by traders will push for business interests. This leads to liberalism, and neoliberalism respectively.

Single Dominant

# W-Wa-T-Tr Name Why
2 1-3-2-2 Military Junta Labor suppressed, force dominant, everything else just ticking along
3 1-2-3-2 Technocracy or Scholastic Bureaucracy Ideas rule, workers are undervalued, force is modest
4 1-2-2-3 Plutocracy or Corporate Oligarchy Trade dominant, labor devalued — rule by capital, not by the people who make things
5 3-1-2-2 Socialist Republic Labor exalted, military minimized — the workers’ commonwealth
6 2-1-3-2 Platonic Republic Philosopher-rule: ideas high, force deliberately low
7 2-1-2-3 Democratic Socialism trade allowed to lead, but force restrained
8 3-2-1-2 Populist Nationalism Worker-glorifying, anti-intellectual, moderate force and trade
9 2-3-1-2 Fascist Corporatism or Praetorianism Force rules for its own sake — no ideology, no worker cult, just the strongman
10 2-2-1-3 Mercantilism Trade is king, thinkers are irrelevant to the state
11 3-2-2-1 State Socialism Labor exalted, markets suppressed, force at a normal level
12 2-3-2-1 Feudalism force and land dominate, commerce stifled
13 2-2-3-1 Theocratic Republic Thought/faith elevated, markets suppressed, force ordinary

Dual-Dominant

Two classes hold maximum power (3) while two are suppressed (1).

1 - 3 - 3 - 1 Totalitarian Theocracy force and dogma fused, commerce and labor crushed
1 - 3 - 1 - 3 Colonialism Force + trade extract value; labor and ideas of the governed don’t matter
