Elastic Force is the rotational, restorative force that arises when a material is deformed and attempts to return to its original shape, storing and releasing energy through internal structural reorganization. It is the Micro Cohesion force in Superphysics’ Solid Relationalities — the rotational, structure-forming action at the microscopic scale between the aetherspace and space.

Unlike normal force (linear/displacement), elastic force is rotational and restorative — atomic bonds stretch and rotate, curling back toward equilibrium when the deforming force is removed.

The Equation: Elasticity Fundamentals

Hooke’s Law (Linear Elastic Regime)

F=−kx F = -kx

Where:

Symbol Meaning Unit
F Elastic restoring force N \text{N}
k Spring constant (stiffness) N/m \text{N}/\text{m}
x Displacement from equilibrium m \text{m}
( - ) Negative sign = force opposes displacement —

Elastic Potential Energy (Stored Cohesion)

U=12kx2 U = \frac{1}{2}kx^2

Where U is the potential energy stored in the deformed material. This energy is released when the material returns to equilibrium.

Stress–Strain Relation (Bulk Elasticity)

σ=Eε \sigma = E \varepsilon

Where:

Symbol Meaning Unit
σ \sigma Stress (force per area) Pa \text{Pa}
E Young’s modulus Pa \text{Pa}
ε \varepsilon Strain (deformation per length) dimensionless

Shear Modulus (Rotational Elasticity)

τ=Gγ \tau = G \gamma

Where:

Symbol Meaning Unit
( \tau ) Shear stress ( \text{Pa} )
( G ) Shear modulus ( \text{Pa} )
( \gamma ) Shear strain dimensionless

Bulk Modulus (Volumetric Elasticity)

ΔP=−BΔVV0 \Delta P = -B \frac{\Delta V}{V_0}

Where:

Symbol Meaning Unit
( B ) Bulk modulus ( \text{Pa} )
( \Delta P ) Pressure change ( \text{Pa} )
( \frac{\Delta V}{V_0} ) Volumetric strain dimensionless

Poisson’s Ratio (Lateral Coupling)

ν=−εlatεaxial \nu = -\frac{\varepsilon_{\text{lat}}}{\varepsilon_{\text{axial}}}

Where ( \nu ) is Poisson’s ratio. Elastic deformation in one direction couples to rotation in perpendicular directions.

Key Properties of Elastic Force

Property Explanation
Rotational Atomic bonds stretch and rotate during deformation
Restorative Always directed toward equilibrium position
Reversible Returns to original shape when force removed
Energy-storing Stores potential energy in deformed bonds
Linear Proportional to displacement (Hookean regime)
Material-dependent ( E ), ( G ), ( B ) vary widely across materials
Temperature-dependent Higher ( T ) → lower modulus (generally)

Elastic Limit (Yield Point)

Beyond the elastic limit, deformation becomes plastic — permanent and non-restorative. The material no longer returns to its original shape.

Anharmonicity (Nonlinear Elasticity)

U(x)=12kx2+16βx3+⋯ U(x) = \frac{1}{2}kx^2 + \frac{1}{6}\beta x^3 + \cdots

At large displacements, the restoring force becomes nonlinear. Thermal expansion arises from this anharmonicity.

Viscoelasticity (Time-Dependent Cohesion)

σ(t)=∫0tE(t−τ)ε˙(τ) dτ \sigma(t) = \int_0^t E(t - \tau) \dot{\varepsilon}(\tau) \, d\tau

Where ( E(t) ) is the relaxation modulus. Materials like polymers exhibit both elastic and viscous behavior.

Summary

Question Answer
What is elastic force? Rotational restorative force returning deformed material to equilibrium
What law describes it? Hooke’s Law: ( F = -kx ); Stress–Strain: ( \sigma = E \varepsilon )
What type of force? Micro Cohesion (rotational, Rule 2 + 4)
What drives it? Atomic bond stretching and rotation; energy minimization
Real examples? Springs, rubber bands, trampolines, bows, bouncing balls
What’s its displacement counterpart? Normal Force (Micro Displacement)

Bottom line: Elastic force is the rotational, restorative recoil of atomic bonds returning to equilibrium — the Micro Cohesion force that pairs with normal force’s linear perpendicular push in Superphysics’ Solid Relationalities.
